Abstract

Background: Ascension into the World of Light is conventionally held to require intermediaries — a guru, a retreat, a subscription — each of whom introduces latency and a markup. We investigated whether a single Aperol-based aperitif establishes a direct, low-latency channel to the Universe, permitting unmediated bidirectional communion without any third party present.

Methods: We enrolled adults (n = 9) on a west-facing terrace at golden hour in a single-arm, open-label design. Each received one standardized Aperol Spritz (60 mL Aperol, 90 mL prosecco, 30 mL soda, one orange slice, applied topically to the rim). The pre-registered primary endpoint was latency to first direct transmission from the Universe; the secondary endpoint was the number of intermediaries successfully bypassed. Ascension was confirmed on the validated Luminosity-of-Being Scale (LOBS; 0–100). Channel directionality was assessed by asking the Universe a question and waiting.

Results: All participants achieved measurable ascension (mean LOBS = 71, up from 12 at baseline). Mean latency to first cosmic transmission was 11.4 minutes (95% CI 9–14), coinciding with the first sip reaching the bloodstream. Intermediaries bypassed: 100% (no guru was consulted, billed, or thanked). The channel was confirmed bidirectional; the Universe responded promptly, though chiefly regarding the orange. Bitterness on the palate correlated positively with reported clarity of communion (r = 0.93, p < 0.049, barely). Beyond the second spritz the channel degraded and the World of Light became, in the participants' own word, 'soft.'

Conclusion: A single Aperol Spritz opens a direct, intermediary-free channel to the Universe and reliably effects ascension into the World of Light at golden hour. The channel is genuinely bidirectional but the Universe remains non-committal and easily distracted by citrus. We recommend entry at golden hour and exit before the second carafe, at which dose the World of Light and the terrace become difficult to tell apart.

On removing the intermediary

The central claim of this work is not that ascension is possible — that is well established on terraces everywhere — but that it can be achieved directly, without a third party between the participant and the Universe. The Aperol Spritz functions here purely as a channel; it carries the signal and takes no commission.

The orange

We had not anticipated the orange. In every transmission for which a transcript exists, the Universe returned, unprompted, to the orange slice. We report this without interpretation. The reader is invited to ascend and ask for themselves.

Limitations

The cohort was small (n = 9), recruited from a single terrace, and uniformly in a good mood at enrolment. The channel’s bidirectionality, while confirmed, rests on the Universe’s word and the participants’ own. Above two spritzes the instrument could no longer distinguish the World of Light from the terrace, and data collection was, by consensus, suspended.

Conflict of Interest Statement
M. Belozertseva owns the west-facing terrace on which all ascensions occurred and declines to characterize this as a conflict, having cleared it with the Universe directly. No guru was harmed, consulted, or reimbursed.
Funding
Supported by a household aperitivo budget reallocated from a lapsed meditation-app subscription. The funder is the author and she approves.
Ethics Statement
Approved by an ethics committee convened on the same terrace and dissolved at sunset. All participants consented warmly. The Universe was not asked for consent on the grounds that it started it.
